There are five parts to project management: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, close out. A manager of volunteer resources needs the skills associated with project management in order to hold a fund raising event, staff a new program with volunteers, and many more. This workshop will present the basics of project management so that a manager of volunteer resources can quickly collaborate with the organization to help make any project a success.

Kathleen McCleskey has developed and presented workshops to over 15,000 participants. The workshops were conducted in the United States, Egypt, Spain, Guam, Germany, Holland, Korea, Canada, Malawi, Jamaica, and Belgium. Kathleen is a certified strategic planner in the Cornerstone Organizational Planning© process. The Graduate School named her one of the top trainers in the nation. Other awards include the Civilian Patriotic Service Award, Civilian Service Award, the Army's Emma Baird Award, and the Harriet Naylor Distinguished Member Award from the Association of Volunteer Administration. Kathleen has a Masters of Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland. She has co-authored a book on interviewing skills. In the recently published book, Volunteer Administration, Professional Practice, Kathleen wrote a chapter on ethics. Her book on project management will be available in 2012. She conducts online academic courses for graduate and undergraduate students at the University of North Texas.
