Working in the nonprofit sector can bring some of the greatest benefits and greatest challenges. The rewarding experience of meeting needs in the community can often be overshadowed by conflicting opinions about organization goals, objectives and strategies between staff and volunteers. There is often no shortage of ideas and opinions about how organizations should function and meet the needs of clients. However, these varying ideas and opinions can frequently lead to conflict.

Ms. Hyder, a native of Missouri City, TX, is currently a Ph.D. student in the Public Management & Administration Program at the University of North Texas, focusing her research in the area of urban management.
Prior to her academic pursuits, Ashley worked for the Volunteer Center of North Texas (VCNT) where she served as a program manager in the Student Engagement Department and most recently served as the Senior Manager for Public Relations & Communications.
During her time with VCNT, Ms. Hyder conceptualized, planned and executed communications strategies; trained nonprofit professionals on issues related to youth volunteerism; and developed innovative programming aimed at making volunteerism a part of everyday life for citizens across the North Texas region.
Ashley E. Hyder brings a wealth of information on the latest trends in volunteer management and motivating young adult and youth volunteers. She has received a Masters in Public Administration with a specialization in nonprofit management and a B.A. in Journalism with a concentration in Public Relations, both from the University of North Texas in Denton.
